At NCPS, we are dedicated to offering comprehensive mental health services tailored to meet the unique needs of our clients. Our diverse team includes Psychologists, Social Workers, Family Therapists and Occupational Therapists, each playing a crucial role in providing hollistic care. Understanding the professionas can help you make informed decisions about your mental health journey. Each of our clinicians have a minimum of seven years tertiary education, with additional qualifications i.e. Masters and Graduate Diploma qualifications.
We are fortunate to have clinicians from a range of clinical backgrounds, including; Clinical Psychologists, Psychologists, Accredited Clinical/Mental Health Social Workers and Mental Health Endorsed Occupational Therapist. Each of these clinicians are endorsed by the Medicare Program. Currently, our Social Workers are in the process of gaining their accreditation, however, can continue to see clients referred under a Mental Health Care Plan and/or privately. All our clinicians can provide treatment and support under the National Disability Insurance Program (NDIS).
DIVERSE ROLES IN MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT
Psychologists specialise in understanding human behaviour, emotions and thought processes. They use this knowledge to assess, diagnose and treat mental, emotiona and behavioural disorders.
Accredited Mental Health Social Workers (AMHSW) utilise evidence based strategies to deliver clincial social work interventions across the lifespan. AMHSW have advanced training and education to provide the with the skills for working with people with very complex presentations and co-morbidities. AMHSW have completed additional experience in assessming and treating people who have mental health disorders.
Social Workers are university qualified professionals (4 year degree/2 years post graduate) dedicated to assisting people to improve their lives by building relationships so together they can offer solutions support in the context of their social, economic, environmental circumstances. They consider the sytemic, ethical and relational challenges and work together with you towards fulfilling your potential.
Family Therapists have additional tertiary qualifications an specialise in treating people within the context of relationships and family dynamics. They can support you with communication, conflict resolution, exploration of Family of Origin issues, addjustment to life events. They foster on an enviroment which focus on each individual within the family context. Work involves exploring healing processes, strengthening family bonds and deeper insights.
All of NCPS clinicians have done additional training and have expertise in a wide range of clinical interventions to support you on your recovery and to get the treatment that you need. We also know that the relationship that you have with your therapist and the connection, style and attachment will have the most successful treatment outcomes. Keeping this in mind, we can support you in finding the right person for you.
